The difference

Ask a question.
Get the arithmetic.

Reports tell you what happened. The question you actually have is why, or what happens if. Ask ArthIQ answers in plain English over your own numbers, and shows every line it used to get there.

It explains. It does not decide. When the judgement matters more than the maths, the person who owns your account is one message away.

Try it on your numbers

Ask ArthIQ

Personal

Why did my spending increase this month?

+$1,240vs your six-month average

You spent 14% more than usual. Three categories account for nearly all of it, and two of them are one-offs that will not repeat next month.

  • Travel — Lisbon flights and hotel+$780
  • Dining — 9 more transactions than usual+$310
  • Utilities — annual water true-up+$190
  • Groceries−$40

Sources: 412 transactions across 6 connected accounts.

In practice

The same discipline, both sides of your life.

What you keep each month, and what your company earned against the plan it promised. Two views, one standard of proof.

Personal. Income split into what left and what stayed. December is a bonus month and it does not flatter the average, because the annual bills sit in there too.

Gross margin 77.0% against 76.0% planned. Operating income is ahead despite $92K of opex overrun, $68K of which is payroll timing rather than a change in the hiring plan.

Business. Operating income ahead of plan despite $92K of opex overrun, because gross margin ran a point better. Both facts in one table, on day seven.

How it works

Connected in twenty minutes. Useful in a week.

Software does the assembling. People do the thinking. You get both, and you know the names of the second part.

  1. 01

    Connect

    20 minutes

Link your accounts and your ledger, read-only. Banks, cards, payroll, billing, the general ledger — whatever you already use. Nothing changes on your side and nothing moves money.

  2. 02

    Baseline

    Week one

We assemble the picture: categories cleaned, chart of accounts pruned, metric definitions written down. You get a first read on where the money actually goes, which is usually the uncomfortable part.

  3. 03

    The monthly rhythm

    Ongoing

Books closed, variance explained, forecast re-run, dashboard refreshed. Same days every month, so decisions stop waiting on numbers that have not landed yet.

  4. 04

    Decisions

    Whenever they come up

The house, the hire, the price change, the raise. Ask ArthIQ for the arithmetic in seconds, or ask the person who owns your account for the judgement behind it.

And what we never do

  • We never take custody of your money. Connections are read-only.
  • We are not a registered investment adviser and we do not pick investments.
  • We take no commissions, referral fees or vendor kickbacks. Ever.
  • We do not sell or share your financial data with anyone.
  • We do not lock you in. Month to month, cancel any time.

In their words

What clients say.

“I run a nine-person studio and my own household on the same brain. Having both in one place stopped a specific bad habit — paying myself irregularly because I could never tell what the business could actually spare.”
Dana Ruiz
Founder · design studio, Texas
“The monthly close went from nineteen days to six in a quarter. The bigger change is that our department heads now argue about their own numbers, which they never did when finance owned them.”
Karen Ellsworth
Chief Operating Officer · marketplace, Series A
“We went into our Series B with a model our lead investor’s analyst could not break. That has never happened to me before, and it changed the tone of the whole process.”
Rachel Whitmore
Co-founder & Chief Executive · infrastructure, Series B

Common questions

Before you sign up.

What we are, what we never touch, and what it costs.

Ask us something else
Is ArthIQ software, or is it people?
Both, and the order matters. People do the work — accountants, analysts and, at the FP&A tier, a fractional CFO. The dashboards are how that work reaches you: one place to see the picture instead of a PDF in your inbox once a month. You are hiring a finance team that happens to have a good interface, not buying a tool and hoping you find the time.
Do you hold my money or move it?
No. Every connection is read-only. We can see balances and transactions; we cannot initiate a transfer, pay a bill or trade a security, and there is no path in the product that would let us. We are not a bank, a broker or a custodian, and we are not a registered investment adviser.
Why offer personal and business finance together?
Because most owners already run both and nobody helps them see the seam. What the business can pay you, what a slow quarter does to your mortgage, whether to take a distribution or leave the cash in — those are single questions with two sets of books behind them. Plenty of clients use only one side, and that is fine.
Do you replace my accountant or bookkeeper?
On ArthIQ Business we can do the bookkeeping ourselves, or work alongside whoever does it now — your call. What we will not do is file your taxes or issue an audit opinion. We are not a licensed public accounting firm, and when a return or an audit is needed we work with your CPA rather than pretending to be one.
What is Ask ArthIQ, exactly?
A question box over your own numbers. You type a question in plain English — why payroll ran over, what a ten percent revenue drop does to runway — and it answers with the arithmetic and the transactions or line items behind it. Every answer shows its sources. It explains what happened and what the numbers imply; it does not tell you what to do, and a person on your account is a message away when the judgement matters more than the maths.
How is my data protected?
Connections are read-only and token-based, so we never hold your banking credentials. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is scoped to the people on your account, and we sell nothing to anyone — no data brokers, no advertising, no lead resale. You can disconnect an account or delete your data at any time.
How much does it cost?
ArthIQ Personal is a flat monthly subscription. Business and FP&A are fixed monthly fees quoted after a short call, based on transaction volume, entity count and reporting cadence — not on hours. The number we quote is the number you pay, and it does not change without a conversation.
What if I want to leave?
Thirty days’ notice, month to month, no termination fee. You keep the model, the cleaned-up chart of accounts, the definitions and an export of everything. It was built for you, not rented to you.

Next step

Thirty minutes,
and no documents.

The first call is about what you are deciding and what your current numbers can and cannot answer. If we are not the right team for it — or you only need one of the three tiers — we will say so and point you somewhere better.
